UAB is turning 40 years old this year, and what better way to celebrate than to have a great Homecoming! When I’m not busy with Homecoming, some of my hobbies include spending time with friends and family, UAB sports, watching sports, volunteering, and enjoying life!

I now have a laundry load of only GREEN because I wear so much of it throughout the week. The best part about this university for me is its expansion over 40 years. It’s part of the magic that is Birmingham – my home for 22 years. I’ve been involved with extracurricular groups since first semester at UAB. When a staff is focused on the development and quality of student programs, events, facilities, etc. you must be in the right place.

Abbie Naglosky

Abbie Naglosky

I’m Abbie Naglosky and I’m a junior Spanish major here at UAB. I’m serving as the Homecoming Executive Board Spirit Chair, and I’ll be helping out at most of the events during the week. I’m also the 2008-2009 Spanish Club Secretary. I am very excited about the launch of the Homecoming blog.  I think it’s a great way to show the UAB and Birmingham communities what happens behind the scenes in preparation for the week.  So many things go into the planning and execution of the events-it’s definitely stressful, but it’s also one of my favorite times of the year because everyone involved always has so much fun.  I hope that the new blog shows students how much fun we have and, in turn, encourages them to get involved in any organization in which they may be interested.
